...NWS Meteorologists Completed Storm Survey Between West
Colesville and Harpursville in Broome County New York...
The National Weather Service office in Binghamton NY completed a
preliminary storm survey today in the area between West
Colesville and Harpursville in Broome County, NY. The survey is in
relation to the severe thunderstorms that moved through the area
on 07/21/26.
The survey team conducted a grid search along secondary roads in
the area and did not find clear evidence of a tornado. The survey
revealed only spotty tree limb and small diameter trunk damage. A
visual inspection of the surrounding tree canopy failed to reveal
additional damage or evidence of a clearly defined path.
Structural damage was also not evident in the area.
Radar data did show the parent thunderstorm had begun to rotate as
it tracked through the region, but the minor tree damage evidence
scattered around various locations is only consistent with
downburst wind gusts estimated between 60-70 mph.
