Survey Summary:

A brief, weak tornado occurred in South Brookfield, NY during the early
afternoon of July 29th. The tornado touched down at 1:54PM EDT along Beaver
Creek Road, roughly 2,000 feet south of the intersection of Lamb Road.
The first observed damage was on the east side of the road, where there were
broken small tree limbs and branches. An uprooted hardwood tree was observed
on the west side of the road, pointing to the southeast. This was a converging
direction to the damage on the opposite side of the road. Other damage was
observed on the west side of Beaver Creek Road on a resident`s property.
This included damage to a sawmill and a couple of sheds/small storage buildings
that were tipped over, with debris spread out.

The tornado then continued southward along Beaver Creek Road, resulting in
minor tree damage along its path. It then crossed Beaver Creek Road,
just east of Chesebro Road and crossed a small pond. Minor tree damage was
observed along the banks of this pond. The last observed damage was found
at a cemetery along Morgan Road. At this cemetery, a few large tree limbs
were snapped off of softwood trees. The tornado then lifted along, or just
across Morgan Road at 1:56PM EDT.

The National Weather Service would like to thank local broadcast media
partners for relaying the initial reports of damage to us. We would
also like to thank Madison County Emergency Management for their
coordination on this survey. Finally, thank you to impacted residents
for their eyewitness accounts.
