...The Frost-Freeze Program for much of Central New York,
including the Southern Tier to Catskills, has ended for this
season...

The Frost-Freeze program of the National Weather Service is to
warn local growers and gardeners of the potential of a damaging
frost or freeze for a given area during the climatologically
defined growing season. This allows people to take preventative
measures for plants and crops against potential damaging
temperatures.

In coordination with other NWS offices serving New York State, Frost
Advisories and Freeze Warnings will no longer be issued for most
New York Zones in the NWS Binghamton County Warning Area. This
coincides roughly with the first freeze median date
climatologically.

However, the Frost-Freeze program still continues for several
Finger Lakes Counties to Greater Syracuse area until October
11. For the NWS Binghamton County Warning Area, this includes
Yates, Seneca, Onondaga, and Southern Cayuga Counties. If and when
conditions warrant, Frost Advisories or Freeze Warnings will
still be issued for those counties.
