Survey Summary:
As one tornado tracked to near Greene, NY on Tuesday July 21,
a NWS Storm Survey has confirmed that a second nearly simultaneous
EF1 tornado also occurred, starting about 5 miles southeast of Greene.
Both of these tornadoes were embedded within a Quasi-Linear Convective
System (QLCS) which featured strong areas of rotation.

A new tornadic convergent pattern was evident starting near the
Shafer Wylie Horton Road intersection. It nearly paralleled Wylie
Horton Road for a few miles, causing its heaviest damage to a farm
just west of the Bowbell Road intersection. A haybarn lost its roof
and most of its walls, with material strewn across the street and
wrapped around a telephone pole. A roof section was lofted at least
100 yards. Roof material from other outbuildings, and the top of
a silo, were removed. A section of cinder block wall collapsed
from tornadic inflow. The tornado also uprooted a large section
of trees just east of Bowbell Road, while then skewing south of
Wylie Horton Road and crossing Cueball Road. The tornado weakened
while reaching Highway 235, as the path became discontinuous.
The tornado ended around 152 PM EDT.

The National Weather Service thanks impacted residents for relaying
their reports of damage, as well as Chenango County Office of
Emergency Services for their coordination on this survey.

EF0.....65 to 85 mph
EF1.....86 to 110 mph
EF2.....111 to 135 mph
EF3.....136 to 165 mph
EF4.....166 to 200 mph
