Subject: Flood Stages Changing on the Owasco Lake Inlet at Moravia.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton, New York, will
implement updated Minor, Moderate, and Major flood categories for
the Owasco Lake Inlet at Moravia (OWIN6), effective Jul 30, 2026.

Following a USGS streamgage relocation roughly 2,000 river feet
downstream, the reference datum for the gage dropped 5 feet in
elevation, resulting in a new reference datum of 711.73 feet
(NAVD88). To preserve the historical perspective of flooding at
this site, flood stages are being increased by 5 feet. While
historical flood crests will remain at their original recorded
levels, they will be noted as having occurred under the previous
datum.

Comprehensive gage details are available at:
https://water.noaa.gov/gauges/OWIN6

The new stages will be as follows:

             New Old
Action: 12.5 feet 7.5 feet
Minor: 13.5 feet 8.5 feet
Moderate: 14.0 feet 9.0 feet
Major: 14.5 feet 9.5 feet
